October, 1980 Greetings, Dear Heart of Texan, We are excited about this new venture - central Texas' very own magazine called Life in the Heart of Texas. The idea is unique. There are no other similar publications in the area. Life in the Heart of Texas will reflect the joys, opportunities, and special problems that come with living in the heart of Texas. In coming months, we plan to explore education and the school systems, medical care, law enforcement, opportunities for senior citizens, preservation of landmarks, prehistoric artifacts, and the state of the arts in the area. We will look more deeply into such situations than your weekly newspaper can. Life in the Heart of Texas will also be a fun guide. A monthly entertainment log will list county fairs, festivals, contests and celebrations so that our readers can take advantage of our unique "off-the-beaten-track" lifestyle here. Yarns of long ago, outdoors articles, original sketches, and much, much more will round out this monthly publication. Colorful covers, and color on the inside, too, will make the magazine sparkle. Outstanding photographs developed and printed in our own darkrooms will make every issue a keepsake. We feel this new undertaking will be a plus for the area. It is designed to enhance the satisfaction of those who live here, invite those who want to live here, let those who have moved away keep in touch, and to instill a sense of pride in all Heart of Texans. We hope you can be as enthusiastic about Life in the Heart of Texas as we are.
